KSA's Ministry of Commerce and Industry Halted The Export of Cement and Clinker

KSA s Ministry of Commerce and Industry has halted the export of cement and clinker as it attempts to help the Kingdom’s production industry meet growing local demand, a spokesman said on Monday. Cement factories have already been instructed to ensure adequate supply to selling outlets in the Western province, Ahmed Al Abdali said. “The ministry has been following the supply of cement in the local market and has instructed factories to work with their full capacity, ” he said. He added that the Safwa factory had been ordered to operate at full capacity, while Southern Cement had been asked to operate a new production line, which would help it supply 10, 000 tonnes daily to the Western Province. As a result of these decisions, Al Abdali said that the Kingdom would be able to ensure the adequate supply to selling outlets in the region. “The ministry will continue to follow up on supply in all regions of the Kingdom and take necessary measures to ensure enough supply and stabilise prices, ” he added. Saudi Arabia is expected to see strong growth in the cement sector for 2012, which will be pushed mainly by government projects, a report by NCB Capital, Saudi Arabia’s largest asset manager, found.
