JDA Software Announced That Shoppers Stop Purchased Additional Licenses of JDA Allocation

JDA Software Group, Inc., announced that Shoppers Stop, India’s largest department store chain, purchased additional licenses of JDA Allocation in the third quarter of 2013 to further strengthen the execution of its assortment strategies, achieve optimized store-specific size availability, and drive improved sales and customer satisfaction.

“We are delighted that Shoppers Stop has expanded its software investment in JDA”. The pioneer of modern retail in India, Shoppers Stop Ltd. has been instrumental in bringing about the retail revolution in the country. Since its inception in 1991, the company has introduced various retail formats in India and has become a benchmark for the Indian retail industry.

The purchase of additional licenses by the retailer comes in the wake of the marked improvements it experienced in assortment and allocation efficiencies after going live with JDA Allocation in 2013. The solution streamlined the existing replenishment methodology at Shoppers Stop by introducing an intelligent replenishment system, which accurately assessed the ability of a store to sell the products before stocking the inventory levels. It also enabled the retailer to efficiently target the optimal mix of products for each store and provided a quicker, more efficient process for creating and executing its allocation plans.

With Shoppers Stop looking to expand its footprint across more locations, it added licenses of JDA Allocation to adequately support its growth initiatives.

“The JDA solution has helped us standardize the merchandise allocation method across the entire supply chain,” said Govind Shrikhande, customer care associate and managing director, Shoppers Stop Ltd. “After rolling out the software in phase one, we’ve seen a marked improvement in inventory turns, which has contributed significantly to the increase in sales at the chain level.

Moreover, sales of specific product categories in smaller stores have gone up significantly. An even inventory distribution across store locations has reduced instances of over-stocking and inter-store transfers, thereby resulting in greater supply chain efficiencies. We strongly believe phase two of the implementation will further integrate our planning and assortment efforts, and lead to even fewer markdowns and better margins for the business.”

“We are delighted that Shoppers Stop has expanded its software investment in JDA,” said Amit Bagga, regional vice president, Asia Pacific, JDA Software. “The solution is a critical component of store replenishment methodologies, as its takes all the guesswork out of assortment and inventory allocation.

With fresher looking merchandise at the store, and increased inventory turns, Shoppers Stop can be ideally positioned to generate more cash and incur lower interest costs for the business, as it seeks to achieve its long-term growth objectives using JDA technology.”
