ITS Australia has congratulated Transport Certification Australia (TCA) on receiving the 2013 Intelligent Transport Systems Industry Award at the 20th World Congress in Tokyo. The award recognised TCA's pioneering work in telematics and cooperative intelligent transport systems.
ITS Australia chief executive officer Susan Harris said the international recognition for TCA's contribution was well deserved: "TCA has been a creative and confident leader in a complex sector of the ITS industry," said Ms Harris.
"The award acknowledges TCA's work in deploying practical applications through the National Telematics Framework, which is widely regarded as world's best practice to support the use of telematics and intelligent technologies.
"TCA's achievements have set industry benchmarks and highlight to all transport stakeholders the significant benefits delivered by intelligent transport systems. This work has enabled major productivity, safety and environmental outcomes to be achieved without major investment programs," Susan Harris said.
The TCA vision is to be recognised as the Australian leader in the provision of high quality advice, accreditation and administration services to improve mobility through information, communications and sensor solutions.
In his acceptance speech, TCA chief executive officer Chris Koniditsiotis recognised ITS Australia's contribution in facilitating collaboration and integration across government and industry, which enabled TCA to achieve the outcomes recognised by this award.
