Sinohydro (SHSE: 601669) announced on August 29 that its subsidiary Sinohydro Corporation Limited signed a EPC contract on the Karuma hydropower station with the Ugandan ministry of energy and mines, with contractual value of about USD 1.69 billion.
The project, located in north-western Uganda ad about 270 km from the capital, Kampala, mainly includes the construction of the dam, watercourse, underground powerhouse and ancillary electrical output works, with total installed capacity of 600,000 kw and a duration of five years.
