A team of glassmakers have recently installed the giant Christmas tree in front of the new Parliament building at the entrance to Valletta. The tree is made up of around 2,000 individual glass baubles made by Mdina Glass artisans, and assembling this impressive structure took more than two nights. At a stand set up next to the tree, the company will be selling its range of handmade glass Christmas baubles. Proceeds from these sales will go to L-Istrina.
Meanwhile, Mdina Glass has also announced that, inspired by the giant glass tree, it has produced a limited edition glass bauble Christmas tree. Commenting on this initiative, the glassmaker’s Production and Product Design Manager Olivia Said stated that: “…in order to ensure the collectability of this carefully crafted item, we will only produce 10 trees at a time. Each tree is signed by our designer, and is numbered and supplied with a certificate”. This unique item, together with other Mdina Glass creations, will feature in the company’s Open Week, which will be held between the 7th and 16th December at all the company’s outlets in Malta and Gozo, as well as on its online shop.
