As LightFair 2012 gets under way in Las Vegas,we highlight some of the new products that can be seen at the show.
LightFair International(LFI),the major US-based annual lighting tradeshow,opens today in Las Vegas,Nevada.One of the first events will be the ceremony to announce the winners of the LFI Innovation Awards,while the winners of the Next Generation Luminaires indoor category will be revealed on Thursday May 10.Meanwhile,GE has announced the winners of the 29th annual GE Edison Award.

■Philips Lighting and GE Lighting launch 100W LED retrofit lamps
Lightfair will see a number of companies introduce SSL retrofit lamps that are equivalent of 100W incandescent bulbs,and GE Lighting and Philips Lighting announced such products before the exhibits opened.
■Cree announces LED downlights and new linear SSL fixture
Cree has added two new LED downlights and a new linear fixture to its portfolio,and has announced a new SSL module and an extension to its TEMPO testing service.
■Lumenpulse introduces configurable line of linear LED luminaires
Lumenline configurable LED luminaires have been designed to match the performance of T5 fluorescent fixtures with a slim design,high efficacy and color rendering index.

Lumenergi and Fulham launch co-marketing and manufacturing agreement
Lumenergi,a provider of network-controlled lighting energy management solutions and Fulham,which supplies a wide range of electronic lighting products,have entered into a comprehensive co-marketing and manufacturing agreement.Fulham will market and distribute Lumenergi's complete building lighting control solution set under its new HorseSense brand.Fulham will also manufacture select elements of Lumenergi's product line and
Lumenergi will distribute selected products designed by Fulham that complement and integrate with its lighting control solution set.Lumenergi will continue to distribute through its own sales channels and under its own brand.
Molex empowers lighting designers and SSL manufacturers
Molex Incorporated will showcase a broad portfolio of interconnect solutions for the SSL market,providing vital electrical connections for multiple applications.As well as various connectors and solderless LED array holders,Molex will showcase its Light Disk,which will integrate the light source,electronics,optics and thermal management into a 50mm-diameter,10mm-high disk using Molded Interconnect Device(MID)technology.
This universal light source will be capable of being"dropped"into various lamp and fixture form-factors,will be powered directly from line voltage and will be the equivalent to a 75W light bulb.
Topanga Technologies launches energy-efficient Advanced Plasma Light
Topanga Technologies will demonstrate its super-bright and energy-efficient APL Series plasma light sources for street,area,architectural,and industrial lighting applications.The APL400 and APL250 series electrodeless lamps are in production and commercially available,and have key performance as follows:
•APL400-22,000 lumen output,5,000K color temperature,130 lm/W source efficacy
•APL250-11,000 lumen output,5,500K color temperature,115 lm/W source efficacy
Topanga will also preview a high-lumen source for introduction in 2013–the new APL1000 will be suitable for replacing 750 to 1000 watt HID sources with a 40-50%energy saving,says the company.
