Satechi introduced Wednesday its Android 4.2-baseed Smart TV Box, offering digital streaming digital services and other apps for televisions without built-in connectivity.
The Satechi Smart TV Box (available now at a $109.99 suggested retail) enables downloading apps from the Google Play Store, streaming movies, playing music, games and more functions.
It will connect to a home Wi-Fi network to a wired router by Ethernet cable.
The Android-based device supports XBMC, which is a media management app for streaming live TV, watching movies and videos, and accessing local storage, the company said.
For fast operation, the Smart TV Box is fitted with a 1.8GHz processor, 2G DDR3 Ram, 8 GB of storage, and has a GPU quad-core Mali-400MP4 graphics card.
It ships with a remote, HDMI cable and 5V 2A power supply. Users can plug in a Bluetooth adapter to use the device with a third party wireless keyboard or mouse.
