The Country's Manufacturing Output Rose by 2.5%

According to the preliminary data released by Statistics South Africa, in October this year the country's manufacturing output rose by 2.5% as compared to the same month of 2011, while the seasonally adjusted manufacturing production is estimated to have increased by 1.2% compared to September.

In South Africa, the seasonally adjusted production of basic iron and steel products in October decreased by 17.4% compared to September, while the actual production index of basic iron and steel products saw a decrease of 12.9% YoY

However, for basic iron and steel products, the estimated seasonally adjusted sales of manufactured products (at current prices) in October this year decreased by 6.5% year on year, amounting to ZAR 7.55 billion (USD 870 million).
