a Survey Has Shown That Consumers with More Knowledge About The Smart Grid

A survey has shown that consumers with more knowledge about the smart grid are more likely to accept it.

The survey,from the IBM Institute for Business Value,was conducted across 15 countries.9,000 people were surveyed.Consumers were surveyed about smart grid programmes that are being deployed or proposed in their area.The survey found that consumers were more likely to accept the grids as their knowledge increased.For example:

Of consumers with little knowledge of common industry terms,43%approve the proposed/underway smart grid deployments,but that figure rose to 50%for those with moderate knowledge,and 61%for those with strong knowledge;35%of consumers with little knowledge about smart grids,believe they will have a positive impact on energy costs,compared to 52%of those with strong knowledge;and 47%of consumers with little knowledge about smart grids believe they will benefit their family,compared to 71%of those with strong knowledge.
