Posturecraft Mattress Will Move Its Business to This Lee County Town Just South of Tupelo

An Alabama bedding producer whose factory was destroyed by fire in April has decided to move its business to this Lee County town just south of Tupelo.

Mississippi state officials said Posturecraft Mattress Co. will invest about $1.75 million renovating an abandoned mattress plant here. It will eventually employ more than 100 people.

"The jobs being created by Posturecraft will have a positive impact on the local community and economy, and I am pleased to welcome the company as the newest business partner to the state of Mississippi," Gov. Phil Bryant said in a statement announcing the relocation.

The company's former factory in Double Springs, Ala., was destroyed by fire after a lightning strike in April.

"From day one, we have received outstanding support and a warm neighborly welcome from each and every state organization involved in our relocation to Mississippi," Posturecraft owner Charles Jones said in the statement. "I assure Gov. Bryant that we are fully committed to becoming a valuable and resourceful asset to Mississippi, Plantersville, and our surrounding communities."

The company, which has had a showroom at the Tupelo Furniture Market for years, produces bedding for the residential and medical markets. It has more than 400 accounts nationwide.

The Mississippi Development Authority is providing $100,000 for facility improvements and $50,000 for workforce training.
