Candler, N.C Is Investing More Than $45.9 Million Over The Next Three Years

Candler, N.C.-based Jacob Holm Industries (America) Inc. — the U.S. subsidiary of Switzerland-based spunlaced and composite nonwoven roll goods manufacturer Jacob Holm & Sons AG — is investing more than $45.9 million over the next three years to add a production line and 66 jobs. The ultimate total investment could exceed $60 million once the expansion is completed.

Jacob Holm serves the hygiene, baby and adult care, cosmetic, household, industrial wipe, automotive, packaging and technical nonwovens markets. In addition to its Candler facility, it operates a production facility in France.

The Candler facility currently employs 82 people and produces spunlaced nonwoven products for the industrial, hygiene and wipes markets in the Americas. The new line is expected to begin commercial production in the first quarter of 2015.

"Jacob Holm Industries is pleased to announce this new technology investment at our existing operation in Candler," said Stephen R. Landon, president and COO, Jacob Holm. "Since opening our doors in Western North Carolina back in 2005, the company has been impressed with the local community, the availability of a quality workforce and the willingness of state and local officials to support our goal of becoming the premiere non-woven manufacturer in North America."

Jacob Holm has a production facility in France in addition to its Candler production facility and headquarters in Switzerland.
