3T Is Issuing a Voluntary Recall of All Aura PRO Custom Edition Aero Bars

3T is issuing a voluntary recall of all Aura Pro custom edition aero bars. The bars were fitted as original equipment on certain Cervélo 2013 model-year bikes, including the P3 spec'd with Shimano Ultegra and the P5 Three spec'd with SRAM Red.

The clamps that attach the handlebar extension to the base bar can become detached during use. 3T is providing a safety upgrade kit for free to consumers that includes four longer replacement bolts. Consumers can follow the instructions to replace the handlebar's bolts or take their bike to a Cervélo authorized dealer for a free repair.

The recall only involves aero bars that have wider clamps that allow for three different width adjustments of the armrests; come with ski-bend extensions; and include pads that are bigger and don't have a 3T logo embossed. The bars come in one version and color, finished in gloss black with a white 3T logo on the base bar's top surface.

The bikes equipped with these bars were sold from September 2012 to January 2013. According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the recall involves 623 bikes in the U.S. and 53 in Canada.
