PetroChina is brewing programs and plans to shut down its oil field in South Sudan after receiving a ban from the government of Sudan on exporting oil via the country's pipelines, disclosed an insider on June 14.
It will be more difficult to resume production after the shut-down, said sources. In January 2012, the oil field ever closed due to the dispute on oil transit fees between Sudan and South Sudan. After the two parties signed an agreement in September 27, the oil production and export in South Sudan began to recover.
