Latin America's Steel Imports From China Accounts for 10% of Global Exports of Steel

According to report of the Latin American steel association (Alacero), Latin America’s steel imports from China totaled 1.2 million tons in the first five months of this year, accounting for 10% of global exports of steel from China.

Among them, Venezuela was the largest importers of the Chinese steel products in the region with 215,790 tons, soaring by 70%; Brazil was the second largest one with 200,596 tons, falling by 18%, both compared to the figures in the same period of 2012.

In the given period of time, the imports of seamless tubes from China totaled 231,558 tons; those of welded tubes were at 217,898 tons.
