Thule Bought The Canada-Based Chariot Company in 2011

Thule is changing the name of its child-carrier division from Chariot to Thule Chariot and expanding its offerings in a product category the company is calling "Active with Kids."

Thule bought the Canada-based Chariot company in 2011.

"There is a natural fit between Chariot's more than 20 years' experience in child-carrying solutions and Thule," said Magnus Welander, CEO and president of the Thule Group.?"We are dedicated to develop the Active with Kids category over the coming years, in the same successful way as we have developed new products and categories in the bike and sport and outdoor categories for more than 70 years," he said.

The first rebranded carriers were shown at Eurobike last month and then at Interbike last week. New products include $179?RideAlong child seat, which the company said can be installed or removed from a bike in 30 seconds.

The company also launched two new bike trailers. The $379 Thule Coaster seats two children and converts to use as a stroller. The Thule Cadence bike trailer, at $279, is similar but does not convert to stroller use. The Cadence will be available in December; the Coaster will be available in February.
