And the Plymouth-based adventurer has been keeping school pupils across Britain updated on his trek with images taken from his Parrot AR Drone 2.0 Power Edition.
Having completed 15 arctic expeditions previously, including reaching the North Pole in 2010, 32 year old Anthony Jinman is undertaking the journey for his not or profit organisation Education Through Expeditions.
The organisation works with explorers to spread knowledge about climate change and remote environments among British schoolchildren.
Around 200 children can follow Jinman, checking his health statistics to see how his body adjusts to the environment of Antarctica as well as email him comments, letters and questions once a day.
