Hitachi has introduced a 36x zoom camera module for security.
Called VK-S655N/EN, it uses a progressive-scan CCD sensor and includes auto and manual focus as well as image stabilisation to compensate for vibration or camera movement.
"Proprietary auto-focus control makes it possible to track rapidly moving subjects, while the addition of a 12x digital zoom delivers a maximum zoom factor of 432x," said the firm.
It is possible to mask the camera's view of areas subject to privacy concerns, such as windows and entrances.
"The position and size of the mask is maintained, even when the camera pans, tilts or zooms, making this unit particularly suitable for surveillance of public areas," said Hitachi.
Motion detection allows an alarm to be issued when motion is detected in designated areas of the frame. It can be activated in as many as eight frame blocks out of a total of 64.
Operational temperature is -10 to +60°C.
