Japanese automotive parts maker Bridgestone Group has commenced the construction of its new passenger car radial tire plant in Ulyanovsk Oblast, Russia.
With this move, the company is seeking to meet this demand growth with local production. The new plant will produce radial tires including winter tires for Russian passenger car market.
The company plans to start production at this plant in the first half of 2016. The plant is expected a production capacity of around 12,000 units per day by the second half of 2018.
In addition, Japanese commercial vehicle manufacturer Mitsubishi, as a business partner, is contributing for the construction of the new plant.
Bridgestone COO and representative board member Kazuhisa Nishigai said: "Bridgestone is building this new plant in order to meet the demand growth with local production and to contribute motorization in Russia with high-quality, safety-secured products."
The new plant will be operated by Bridgestone Tire Manufacturing president Hiromi Tanigawa.
