China Steel Corp. (CSC), the largest carbon steelmaker in Taiwan announced to cut its list prices for electric furnace (EF) Al-killed wire rods by NT$1,400/ton to NT$20,800/ton for June, hitting the history low. Meanwhile, the actual selling prices are at NT$19,800~NT$20,300/ton. In fact, CSC hiked its list prices for EF A-killed wire rods by NT$500/ton for February and March respectively and then it remained the list prices unchanged for April and May. CSC stated that the company decided to cut list prices for EF Al-killed wire rods due to decreased steel prices in international market and the Chinese screw makers’ weak performance in export markets. CSC expected that the price cut can help the Taiwanese screw makers to enhance price competitiveness and gain more orders in foreign markets.
