NXP Semiconductors,a provider of in-vehicle networking semiconductors, recently unveiled a compact integrated solution, the UJA1018.This novel solution contributes to versatile and affordable LED ambient lighting applications within the vehicles.
NXP Semiconductors UJA1018
The UJA1018 is the first ASSP(Application Specific Standard Product)for ambient lighting having Node Position Detection.
The UJA1018 has been designed for LIN networks(Local Interconnect Networks)and therefore allows LIN addresses of LED modules to be programmed individually following its installation within the vehicle. This programming is however not carried out during module manufacturing.Automotive industry has been witnessing the prevalence of ambient LED lighting in recent years.Ambient LEDs acts as a differentiator that improves the driving experience.OEMs can also use this lighting solution to accentuate their car brand by selecting the right color and styling of the interior lighting.Customization of lighting settings option is also available.
Unlike interior LED modules that are currently programmed during module manufacturing process, the new integrated LIN switch-based Node Position Detection method from NXP allows individual configuration of all LED modules, even after installation. This provides new levels of versatility and promotes low manufacturing logistics and costs.
The UJA1018 incorporates all the analog functions within this single compact ambient lighting solution. It features voltage regulator for microcontroller,LIN transceiver, drivers for 3-color LED,and LIN switch for Node Position Detection.Furthermore, the compact HVSON package supports designing small form factor modules. The UJA1018 complies with the OEMs robustness requirements in addition to fulfilling the SAE J2602 and LIN conformance.
