It is reported that Pakistan now faces with serious danger to public safety for its infrastructure such as roads, bridges, and buildings due to the reason that its local steel market is fully supplied with poor quality substandard steel rebar with cheap low prices. The application of substandard scrap steel bars has resulted in collapse of infrastructure and buildings in Pakistan for the past years. According to local officials, the grades of ASTM 615, 706 and BS4449 are the only lawful steel deformed bar to be utilized in construction for infrastructure. China's central government departments planned to stop production of low grade HRB335 re bar. Meanwhile, China's Ministry of Industry & Information Technology also plans to ban and eliminate use of HRB335 re bar by end 2013.
