Russian Steelmakers Have Kept Cutting Output and Sales

According to report, Russian major steelmakers, members of the umbrella organization Russian Steel, said in the statement that they have kept cutting output and sales on “continuing world financial crisis. Steelmaker members include Evraz, Severstal, MMK, Mechel and Metalloinvest. Russia produced 4.4 million tons of steel products, which is about 7.7% less than same period in 2012 and also 4% down from August this year. Also, its output for the first nine months dropped 3.3% from the same period of 2012 to 40.6 million tons. Domestic sales also down by 2% year-on-year to 2.7 million tons. In fact, the big drop of exports sales volumes happened in September for 15.8% down year-on-year to 1.65 million tons. Export sales for the first nine months also dropped by 8.3% year-on-year to 16.7 million tons.
