In just a few short days, LEGO Cuusoo will exist no more.
The firm has decided to end its six year partnership with Cuusoo Systems, to bring the popular fan creation process to a new platform, LEGO Ideas.
Since autumn of 2008, LEGO Cuusoo has been the home to many LEGO play sets suggestions from fans across the globe, and has launched popular ideas such as the LEGO Delorean from Back to the Future and LEGO Ghostbusters to the consumer market.
From April 30th, all current projects, supports, comments, profiles and other data will be shifted from LEGO Cuusoo to the new in-house platform, LEGO Ideas.
"Today, the LEGO Group is very happy to announce that the partnership with Cuusoo System, has been such a success that we have decided to integrate the Cuusoo concept more closely in to the LEGO experience called LEGO Ideas," a statement from LEGO explained.
"We are grateful for the many years of collaboration and experimentation between our two companies and wish Cuusoo System continued success."
The shift will bring a few new changes to the system and as of April 30th, all projects will have one year to reach 10,000 supporters before reaching review stage.
If a project fails to reach the target within the year, it will expire and will no longer accept supporters. The project will then be welcome to re-submission, but will start once again from the ground up.
LEGO Ideas will also welcome submissions from fans below the age of 18, however, if a project submitted by anyone aged between 13 and 18 reaches review, written permission from a parent or guardian will be required.
With just five days remaining of the partnership, LEGO Cuusoo signed off with a thanks to it fans over the years.
"Thanks again for your participation on LEGO Cuusoo, and we look forward to seeing you on LEGO Ideas, Sincerely, LEGO Cuusoo Team."
