USGBC Announced The 2012 Class of Leed Fellows in October

Nancy Clanton Named LEED Fellow

The U.S.Green Building Council(USGBC)announced the 2012 class of LEED Fellows in October,including lighting designer Nancy E.Clanton,founder and president of Clanton&Associates,among the 43 distinguished green building professionals selected.The LEED Fellow Program is the most prestigious designation for LEED Professionals,recognizing exceptional contributions to green building and significant professional achievement within the rapidly growing community of LEED Professionals.

Green building professionals are selected to be LEED Fellows through a peer nomination and portfolio review process.Among other requirements,LEED Fellows must have at least 10 years of green building experience and hold a LEED AP with specialty credential.

Rick Fedrizzi,President,CEO&Founding Chair,USGBC,commented,"The Fellows are leading innovators and forerunners of the green building movement.Their commitment to LEED is advancing the field of green building and transforming the sustainable built environment."

Clanton's lighting design practice specializes in sustainable design,reflecting her sustainable philosophy.Ten of the firm's projects have been named to the AIA Committee on the Environment Earth Day Top Ten List,and 22 projects are LEED rated.She speaks throughout the nation on topics relating to sustainable design,energy efficiency,and light pollution.

Clanton's accomplishments include:

Chairperson for the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America(IES)Outdoor Environmental Lighting Committee,Mesopic Committee and joint IDA/IES Model Lighting Ordinance Task Force.Current member of the International Dark Sky Association(IDA).Past member of the Board of Directors of the International Association of Lighting Designers(IALD).Topic editor for the 9th Edition of the IES Lighting Handbook.Her committee was responsible for the production of the IESNA Recommended Practices on Outdoor Lighting.Group leader for the"Greening of the White House"initiative.Member of the USGBC Indoor Environmental Quality Technical Advisory Group.Member of the Professional Advisory Board for the Engineering Department at the University of Colorado at Boulder Served as Lighting Group Leader for the 2009 C40 meeting in Seoul Korea.

She obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Architectural Engineering,Illumination Emphasis from the University of Colorado at Boulder and is a registered Professional Engineer in the states of Colorado and Oregon.She is a Fellow of IESNA and Rocky Mountain Institute.

The 2012 class of LEED Fellows will be recognized at the Greenbuild International Conference&Expo,November 14-16 in San Francisco.
