China Has Put in Place Application Criteria for 2014 Molybdenum,Tin, &Indium Export Quotas

China has put in place application criteria for 2014 molybdenum, tin, and indium export quotas, according to information posted on the Ministry of Commerce website Monday.

For moly, companies that have been allotted export quotas for 2013 should have moly oxide or roasted moly concentrate and ferromoly production capacity of 6,000 mt/year or more. New applicants for moly powder and metal export quotas need to have a production capacity of at least 600 mt/year.

For tin, new applicants should have been in operation for at least three years with tin ingot output of at least 2,000 mt/year in the last calendar year. Priority would be given to integrated mining, ore selection and smelting enterprises, according to the new rules. The smelters can buy tin concentrate only from licensed miners.

New lead, zinc, copper, tin and antimony producers who are applying for indium export quotas must have an average annual output of 12 mt or more over 2010-2012. Zinc chemical plants should have a production capacity of 18 mt/year or more, while for independent processing plants the minimum level is 22 mt/year.
