British sport utility vehicles (SUV) manufacturer Land Rover has expanded its portfolio with introduction of Range Rover Hybrid Long Wheelbase at the Beijing motor show 2014, which is being held in China.
The new SUV, which represents first diesel hybrid model to be offered in China, will be powered by Land Rover's 3L SDV6 diesel engine paired to an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission and supported by a 35kW electric motor.
Combined engine system allows the SUV to generate 340PS of power at 4,000rpm and offers three different drive options to increase performance along with 26% lesser CO2 emissions of 169g/km and fuel consumption of 6.4L per 100 km.
Range Rover Hybrid Long Wheelbase's hybrid system uses Terrain Response system and all-wheel drive technology similar to the petrol and diesel-powered models.
According to the company, the electric motor alone is capable of producing 170Nm torque and offers a transit range of about one mile before the diesel engine restarts along with speeds of 30mph.
The vehicle comes with long wheelbase that offers an additional 186mm of legroom for rear seat passengers and extra rear seat angle of recline to 17 degrees.
Land Rover plans to make the vehicle available in China by the end of 2014.
