He succeeds Rob Vickers, who left the company a few months ago.
Simmons Canada said Besner is a 21-year bedding industry veteran who most recently was vice president of sales and marketing at Louisville Bedding Co., a producer of mattress pads, pillows and other sleep accessories based in Louisville, Ky. He also had a long tenure at Pacific Coast Feather.
"I am very excited about the challenges that await me and look forward to working with our team to build stronger connections with both consumers and retailers," said Besner, who will be based at the company's head office here.
He will be responsible for the development and implementation of Simmons Canada's selling strategies and will oversee the management of the company's sales force.
"Eric understands our industry and the needs of our customers, which makes him a great fit for the team and organization," said John Stasiw, president of Simmons Canada.
A wholly owned subsidiary of Simmons Bedding Co. in Atlanta, Simmons Canada has sales offices and manufacturing facilities in British Columbia, Ontario and Quebec.
