Samsung Display is now operating as a newly merged business with Samsung Mobile Display and S-LCD activities within the Korean electronics group.
Samsung Display is the world's largest display manufacturer with 39,000 employees and seven production facilities around the world.
The ambitions of the displays manufacturer are considerable.
"Samsung Display is destined to attain virtually unlimited growth," said Oh-hyun Kwon, vice chairman and CEO of Samsung Electronics.
Through its merger with Samsung Mobile Display and S-LCD corporations, Samsung Display plans to expand its activities in LCDs and OLEDs (organic light-emitting diodes).
The company also intends to combine OLED production technology with precision large panel operations and seasoned supply chain management.
"Our combined strengths will guide Samsung's display business through the next decade and longer," said Kwon.
