"World Book Day has certainly been increasing in popularity in recent years, as has book character dress-up."

As the popularity of World Book Day increases year after year, Rubie's is confident that this year's event will mark 'another success' for the fancy dress firm.

The company now boasts one of the widest ranges of book related dress-up costumes on the market, with many of its licensed costumes based on popular children's stories or fairy tales.

"World Book Day has certainly been increasing in popularity in recent years, as has book character dress-up, and this year has been no exception." Struan Robertson, trade marketing and digital manager at Rubie's Masquerade told Toy News.

"We certainly have one of the widest ranges of book related dress-up."

Rubie's covers a plethora of children's book character dress up, from the popular Grimms tales, now immortalized by Disney with lines including Cinderella, Rapunzel, Sleeping Beauty and Snow White, to timeless stories such as Alice in Wonderland, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Fantastic Mr Fox and Peter Pan.

Further additions to the book character dress up lines even stretch to Lord of the Rings, 101 Dalmatians, Mary Poppins and of course, Harry Potter.

But World Book Day doesn't just offer the perfect excuse to dress up as a wizard for a day, it also places emphasis on education and school curriculum.

And fear not, Rubie's has this covered too.

"Rubie's also produces a wide range of generic costumes which can be relevant to all sorts of books on the curriculum like our Victorian urchins and maids, Tudor Kings and Queens, Roman Emperors and gladiators, Vikings and more, all aimed at illustrating periods of history for educational purposes," concluded Robertson.
