It’s reported that Austria-based Voestalpine has commissioned Austrian plant maker Siemens and US-based technology provider Midrex to build a direct reduced iron (DRI) plant in Texas.
The designed annual capacity of the DRI plant is at 2 million tons.
Meanwhile, the DRI plant is expected to start production of hot briquetted iron (HBI) at the beginning of 2016.
Siemens and Midrex will supply mechanical and electrical equipment, engineering and consultancy services for the DRI plant.
