Europump Publishes on Its Website Fingerprints-Efficiency Graph-to Support Manufacturers

Europump publishes on its website the fingerprints-efficiency graph-to support manufacturers with the implementation of Regulation(EU)No 547/2012 of 25 June 2012 and esp.Annex II,2,15.

The Europump Standards Commission worked hard on the subject to help companies with the application of the EU Regulation 547/2012 says Markus Teepe,Member of the Standard Committee,ecodesign expert.We monitored and commented during the whole legislative process and now that the Regulation is published,we made the efficiency graphs available to support pump manufacturing companies in applying the law.

The Regulation No 547/2012 of 25 June 2012 implementing Directive 2009/125/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council with regard to ecodesign requirements for water pumps establishes ecodesign requirements for the placing on the market of rotodynamic water pumps for pumping clean water,including those which are integrated into other products.Water pump is the hydraulic part of a device that moves clean water by physical or mechanical action and is of one of the following designs:

End suction own bearing(ESOB),

End suction close coupled(ESCC),

End suction close coupled inline(ESCCi),

Vertical multistage(MS-V),

Submersible multistage(MSS);The Regulation shall not apply to:

(a)water pumps designed specifically for pumping clean water at temperatures below 10°C or above 120°C,except with regard to the information requirements of Annex II,points 2(11)to 2(13);

(b)water pumps designed only for fire-fighting applications;

(c)displacement water pumps;

(d)self-priming water pumps.

There are two ecodesign requirements:the minimum efficiency requirements represented by an index called minimum efficiency index or MEI as well as information requirements for rotodynamic water pumps such as the efficiency graphs.From 1 January 2013,water pumps shall have a minimum efficiency index of MEI≥0.1 and from 1 January 2015,water pumps shall have an even stricter minimum efficiency index of MEI≥0.4;from 1 January 2013,the information on water pumps shall comply with the requirements.

By referencing to the website www.europump.org/efficiencycharts a manufacturer does not need to provide efficiency graph information in its catalogues and therefore reduces the amount of paper used,which in turn is good for the environment.
