RAB Rates Entire LED Portfolio at 100,000 Hrs
RAB Lighting,the leading manufacturer of affordable LED lighting,announced an LED lifespan rating of 100,000 hours for its full line of LED fixtures.The 100,000-hour rating applies to both new and previously released LED products.This means that with an average daily use of 10 hours,RAB LEDs are rated to last for 27 years.
This announcement follows the publication by the Illuminating Engineering Society(IES)of Technical Memorandum 21(TM-21),which provides guidance for calculating LED lifespan and sets a standard by which all LED fixtures can be judged.
The lifespan of an LED is highly dependent on the thermal management design of the fixture in which it is installed.If an LED is allowed to overheat it can burn out in a matter of minutes.The long lifespan of RAB LEDs are a function of the excellent heat management of the fixture designs.
RAB engineers utilize state-of-the-art computational fluid dynamic software to study heat movement and airflow around LED fixtures.This helps them to achieve the best possible thermal management designs,while still keeping costs to a level that enables quick return on investment for end-users.
