WTB is entering the market for tubeless cyclocross tires and rims, thanks largely to one 'cross nut at the company.
WTP product manager Chris Feucht decided that he needed a tubeless 'cross tire, so set about adding the new rim and tire to the WTB line. The new ChrisCross rim is named for Feucht, and also is a tribute to former framebuilder Chris Chance's old cyclocross model, the Chris Cross.
"The ChrisCross is named after me because I wanted it on my bike," said Feucht. "Cyclocross needs tubeless, so I walked this rim from concept all the way to production."
The rim has a 19mm inner rim width, UST-compliant bead hooks, 4D angled drilling, WT-69 Alloy construction, and a machined braking surface. It weighs 435 grams. WTB said its suited for cyclocross racing and trail riders.
The matching tire is the Cross Wolf 77x32c TCS. It has a UST-compliant bead shape, dual-compound rubber tread and weighs 360 grams. The tread is intended to work in dry and muddy conditions. The tires retail for $54.95 while the rims sell for $75. Both are available now.
