It’s reported that the 7 major Japanese stainless steelmakers produced 280,319 tons of crude stainless steel in March, falling by 4.7% from 294,083 tons in February.
Among them, Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corporation (NSSMC)’s Yawata Works produced 82,081 tons, decreasing by 18%; Nisshin Steel's Shunan Works produced 30,466 tons, down by 8%; Nippon Metal Industry (NTK)’s Kinuura Works produced 12,625 tons, falling by 11%, all compared to those in a month ago.
Meanwhile, NSSMC’s Hikari Works produced 46,888 tons, rising by 9%; Nippon Yakin’s Kawasaki Works produced 30,472 tons, increasing by 15%; JFE Steel’s Chiba works produced 61,498 tons, remaining flat; NSSMC’s Wakayama produced 15,289 tons, keeping unchanged, all compared to the figures in February.
