Audi Taiwan Targets to Sell 5,000 Vehicles in 2013

Taipei, Dec. 14, 2012 (CENS)--Audi Taiwan, a 100%-locally-owned subsidiary of the German brand, recently claimed that it targets to sell 5,000 vehicles in 2013.

Chiu Shang-hsiang, Audi Taiwan`s president, said that the company will continue to introduce Audi S sport models in 2013. With ample supply of luxury sport utility vehicle (LSUV) models, Chiu is optimistic toward achieving the new sales goal, but admits global economic uncertainties hamper the domestic imported luxury-car market from clear growth.

Audi Taiwan became an agent of Audis in 2009, having targeted annual sales of less than 1,000 units initially to expecting sales of about 4,000 units in 2012, when Audi Taiwan enjoys annual sales increase of about 10%, the highest among all European luxury imports.

At the launch of the new Audi Q5 SUV in Taiwan, Chiu said that most luxury-car buyers in Taiwan would not downsize their new-car purchases, so demand for luxury cars on the island is not likely to be impacted as much as in Europe and the U.S..

Chiu forecasts total sales of luxury imports in Taiwan to be about 50,000 units in 2013, the same as in 2012, stressing that the Audi S sport models will help further expand Audi`s market share by competing with Mercedes-Benz AMG and BMW M models.
