Trade Resources Market View I'm Getting Tired of Seeing Paper Calendars Hanging on The Wall

I'm Getting Tired of Seeing Paper Calendars Hanging on The Wall

It's that time of year again: The time to purchase new calendars for the upcoming year. I usually keep track of my to-do list in a weekly portfolio, one that has ten lines for each day. If I have more things to do than ten each day, well — it won't happen. So ten it is.

But what about that calendar that hangs on the wall? To be honest, I'm getting tired of seeing paper calendars hanging on the wall. They aren't nearly as old-fashioned and homey as wooden calendars, or pretty chalkboards with numbers printed neatly on them, or magnetic boards with colorful magnets that move as the months change.

So I'm on the hunt for a new and interesting calendar to ring in the new year. Here's what catches my eye so far:

Colorful Dry-Erase Calendars

These calendars can be changed with the simple swoop of a special pen. Those pens can be in a wide variety of colors, the better to coordinate the activities of everyone in the household. Best of all, if you get tired of falling behind on your to-do list, you can always sweep the entire thing clean and start over. (Not that anyone would ever do that, right? Of course not.)

Chalkboard Calendars

Much like dry-erase calendars but with a more nostalgic feel, chalkboards (or greenboards or brownboards or whatever your color may be) are perfect for creating a charming, whimsical atmosphere while still being entirely useful.

Magnetic Calendars

The fun thing about magnetic calendars is that they work anywhere, and they serve double-duty. For instance, those numbered magnets are perfect for putting tickets, coupons and other reminders on the calendar itself. You can even choose small magnets that depict what you plan to do on a particular day, such as a birthday cake to remind you about your best friend's birthday.

Perpetual Calendars

These calendars are entirely simple, giving you only the day and the date. You can customize a calendar like this in any way you please, by adding in the month, changing the background design or even changing the frame that holds it. This is one of those fun DIY projects that you can share with the whole family in the weeks leading up to a brand-new year. Read more about perpetual calendars here.

Pocket Calendars

This is a true home decor piece! Pocket calendars are just what they sound like — they have pockets for every day of the month or week, and you can put important information in each pocket. These come in very handy if you have a household full of busy kids. These also make excellent advent calendars.

This year I'm leaning toward a magnetic calendar — probably because I have a thing for magnets, no matter what they happened to be attached to. But the chalkboard idea looks good, too.

Decisions, decisions!
