Brazil's Tax on Bicycle as High as 40.5%

Brazil's global news and bicycle association showed the joint research, the average tax levels of bicycle as high as 40.5% of the purchase price, while the car is only 32%. In the industrial products tax, the tax differences between cars and bicycles are obvious: Civilian vehicles required to pay federal tax of 3.5%, while the bike is as high as 10%. So that the bike prices in Brazil is the highest in the world. A 26-inch, 21-speed bike’s ordinary average price up to 400 Reais, compared with 54 percent higher than similar products in the United States. In Brazil, the price of a folding bike up to 640 Reais, while in Germany the price is equivalent to 477 Reais.
