The new taxes on mining in Mexico, as a result of recent tax reform, will increase the tax burden on companies, comprising 30-44 percent of accounting income according to KPMG and PwC specialists.
As a result, Mexico will be amongst the countries that pay the highest mining taxes, which experts believe will reduce the country's competitiveness.
Within the hemisphere, Mexico has the highest tax burden for mining, beating Peru, whose taxes account for almost 33 percent of the net profit of companies, while in Chile, Argentina and the United States, taxes represent 35 per percent.
