On the afternoon of August 11th, the project of continuous casting workshop and the project of hot rolling plant of Baosteel Zhanjiang Iron and Steel Co., Ltd started piling at the same time. Mr. Dai Zhihao, the General Manager of Baoshan Iron & Steel Co., Ltd; Mr. Zhao Zhouli, the Vice General Manager of Baosteel Group, the Board Chairperson of Baosteel Zhanjiang Iron and Steel Co., Ltd., the Project General Director of Baosteel Zhanjiang Iron and Stee Plant Project; Moreover, Mr. Zhao Zhihui, the member of the Zhanjiang Municipal Standing Committee, Vice Mayor of Zhanjiang City attended the ground-breaking ceremony.
CISDI Engineering Co., Ltd. (CISDI) of MCC Group was awarded with engineering of the continuous casting workshop and 2250 hot rolling plant, and the construction of the projects are to be undertaken by China 20 Metallurgical Group Corporation and CMTCC Shanghai 13 Construction Co., Ltd respectively.
It is scheduled to set up 3 sets of two strand slab continuous casting machines totally and its ancillary facilities in the project of continuous casting workshop, with an annual production capacity of 8,749,100 tons of slabs; thereof, it is expected that the 2 sets of 2150mm continuous casting machines would be completed and put into production by the end of December, 2015; The other one, the 2300mm continuous casting machine will be relocated from Luojing plant, it is scheduled to be completed and put it into production by the end of September, 2016. The products mix made in Zhanjiang oriented with the high-end products, such as, auto sheet, home appliances plate, high-strength steel, pipeline steel, boiler steel, ship plate steel. A number of advanced technologies and equipment are to be adopted in the engineering for continuous casting workshop. Based on the experience accumulated in construction and production of continuous casting machine by Baosteel over the past 30 years, the production chain in the up-stream process and down-stream process in the melting process are fully taken into consideration as the ideology of engineering, to focus on so-called Specialized Production Line, Constant Drawing Speed, and the important measures are taken to control of "Eight Stability", by doing so, it matches the the process from hot metal pretreatment - converter - secondary refining with continuous casting machine reasonably in order to establish a reasonable, stable, high quality production process and smooth slab delivery system, in turn, it is going to build up a world-class slab continuous casting workshop featured with less-employees and producing defect-free slabs.
The designed annual production capacity of 2250 hot rolling production line is of 5,500,000 tons, It is schedule to be completed and put it into production on March 15th, 2016. The products to be made will make complementary advantages of the existing hot rolling products made by Baoshan Iron & Steel Co., Ltd in Shanghai for each other, which are mainly oriented with high-end hot-rolled products, including engineering machinery steel, high-strength steel for making container and railway vehicles, high grade pipeline steel, medium/heavy truck steel, and then, it achieves a new breakthrough for Baosteel in the field of ultra wide, ultra high-strength steel products. The main equipment of 2250 hot rolling production line consist of four sets of the-state-of-art pulse control and energy-saving type heating furnaces, equipped with sizing press and high precision hot rolling mills adopted with advanced controlling technologies, and the highest strength temper mill in China, etc.
The engineering companies and construction companies concerned attended at the ceremony stated that they must implement the works in scientific way with standardized operation, to follow the standardized requirements on the job-site, they are determined to build up the continuous casting workshop and hot rolling plant as a first-class project in terms of reliablity, high precision high-quality.
Baosteel Zhanjiang Iron and Steel Co., Ltd expressed that they would build up the continuous casting workshop and hot rolling plant as the "masterpieces" of Steel Competitive Products Base for Baosteel, to mould the projects into the world-class outstanding example plant in aspects of high quality, high efficiency, energy saving and environmental protection. In turn, it also make great contributions to achieve a new round of development strategy of Baosteel and to the rapid economic development of Zhanjiang city.
