The Onset of Winter Accelerate an Seasonal Reduction in Demand on The German Sale Markets

The onset of winter in the last few days has accelerated an already seasonal reduction in demand on the German sales markets for softwood lumber. Irrespective of this, there have been no major slumps in softwood prices in the last two weeks. Prices have remained stable in the majority of cases.

At the beginning of December, manufacturers are now reporting only very sporadic demand from their building and carpentry customers for standard construction assortments as listed and for reserve construction timber. The timber trade has reduced its purchasing activity to a minimum as well and has largely stopped putting any more lumber into stock before the end of the year.
