CJSC Azerbaijan Railways has eliminated 45 railway crossings with the purpose to ensure traffic safety.
Mr Nadir Azmammadov ADY spokesman informed that the decision was made by a special commission established after a passenger bus crash at a railway crossing.
Mr Azmammadov said that "ADY has 396 crossings under its authority, of which 318 ones were protected and 78 unprotected. Under commission’s decision, 45 crossings were eliminated, 7 unguarded crossings have become protected."
He pointed out that at present the commission examines the situation with the other crossings to ensure traffic safety. A big accident occurred in Baku on August 31st a train collided with a passenger bus at a railway crossing. The accident killed 9 people.
