China will set up a pavilion at the World Expo 2015 in Milan that runs from May to October to further promote its business connections in sectors including agriculture, travel, culture and finance.

Wang Jinzhen, vice-president of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, said the main theme for the China pavilion would be agriculture and food. It is significant that China, a major agricultural nation with a large population, showcases its capabilities at the Expo.

Construction work on the China pavilion will be finished by the end of this month. The pavilion will host a series of theme weeks and days for 17 Chinese provinces and cities, and have 10 theme days for Chinese enterprises and for more than 100 activities in various fields.

A total of 148 countries, regions and international organizations have confirmed their participation in the Expo, and 55 of them will have pavilions in Milan. The Expo is expected to attract more than 20 million visitors.

"After the Expo, the pavilion will be removed to Qingdao in East China's Shandong province," Wang said at a news conference on Thursday.

Yu Xiaodong, spokesman for the CCPIT, said as the Expo is held in Italy, China will expand cooperation with the European country on energy efficiency, sustainable urbanization and modern agriculture, and develop better ties on finance, trade and people-to-people exchanges to improve bilateral business connections.
