Solar-Grade Polysilicon Imported From The US Will Be Subject to Anti-Subsidization Tax

China's Ministry of Commerce on September 16 announced that solar-grade polysilicon imported from the US will be subject to provisional anti-subsidization tax beginning September 20.

The ministry began an investigation in July 2013 and has found that solar-grade polysilicon produced in the US has been subsidized by the government, and consequently imports to China have had a negative impact on China-based polysilicon makers, the agency said.

Local importers will be required to submit security deposits based on preliminary anti-subsidization tariff rates for the US-based producers concerned, the ministry indicated. However, the ministry did not reveal its list of US-based companies subject to the tariffs or the rate for each company.
