Official from the Department of Foreign Assistance of MOFCOM said on August 5 that the constant high temperature since July has caused glaciers to melt. It has led to severe landslides in Tajikistan and caused serious casualties and a great loss of property. In order to express sympathy and support from the Chinese government and its people for the Tajikistan government and its people, the Chinese government decided to provide the Tajikistan government with RMB10 million as humanitarian emergency relief supplies.
The MOFCOM will organize the assistance as soon as possible, continue to follow the situation and demands for post-disaster construction. Chinawill help the Tajikistan people rebuild their home.
