Jordan Will Impose a Protective Tariff on Imports of Iron

Officials say, Jordan's cabinet decided to impose a protective tariff on imported iron, Execute the resolution in the first year of tariffs imposed standards of Jordanian dinars 80 / tons, in the second year of 70 dinars/tons, in the third year for 60 dinars per ton in the first half of the year.

After the local steel factory ever complain to the department of trade and industry in Jordan, the increase imports of the rebar to damage their interests.

9 big iron and steel plants production capacity of about 520000 tons in Jordan, while the local annual consumption is about 540000 tons, imported iron is used to make up for the gap between supply and demand.

The resolution is expected to cause business outcry in Jordan, because the trade protection can endanger their vital interests.
