The updated amendment A15 of EN 60335-1 was issued and two types of new cable are added into the amendment for external power cord of household appliance: halogen-free thermoplastic cable and cross-linked halogen-free cable.
-
Halogen-free thermoplastic cable:
H03Z1Z1H2-F, H03Z1Z1-F or cables with higher property for appliances having a mass not exceeding 3 kg;
H05Z1Z1H2-F, H05Z1Z1-F or cables with higher property for other appliances. -
Cross-linked halogen-free cable:
H07ZZ-F or cables with higher property for all appliances.
The standards for halogen-free thermoplastic cable and cross-linked halogen-free cable are EN 50525-3-11 and EN 50525-3-21. The two standards are parts of the new EU low-voltage energy cable standard EN 50525 series which supersedes HD 21 and HD 22 series.
The EU attaches importance to safety and environment protection more than ever. When it is burned, halogen-free and low emission of smoke cable only emits little smoke and corrosive gas. The modification of EN 60335 means halogen-free cables will be adopted by household and other appliances more and more. TÜV SÜD would face the updated requirements together with local manufacturers, and provide test and certification service for cables and appliances.
