Illinois Governor Pat Quinn has voted against a plastic bag recycling bill.
The reason given by Quinn for vetoing it was that though it was well meaning, enacting the legislation would have been an impediment to innovation which would not have served the cause of promoting recycling in Illinois.
"Let's not tie the hands of innovative Illinois municipalities that are laboratories of reform for Illinois," added Quinn.
The bill would have made it more difficult for most communities in the state to ban single-use plastic bags, according to Plastics News.
