China to Provide US$ 30,000 Humanitarian Aid to Flood-Hit Madagascar

Recently, Madagascar was stricken by hurricane and rainstorm, causing the breaching and inundating of the dike of rivers, and the destruction of roads, bridges, buildings and farmlands. Antananarivo, the capital, was badly destroyed, and the low-lying areas of downtown were all drowned. The flood affected more than 60,000, killed at least 24 people, and forced more than 30,000 to flee their homes.

To express both the Chinese government and its people’s sympathy and supports for both the government and people of Madagascar, Chinese government decided to provide Madagascar with US$ 30,000 in cash as the assistance to help Madagascar government in disaster relief.
