The Visit of a 4 Member Diligence Study Team Has Once Again Raised Curiosity

Times of India reported that the visit of a 4 member diligence study team from the Steel Authority of India Limited corporate office has once again raised curiosity about the fate of the proposed industrial complex at Sindri.

Although the visiting officials refused to talk to the media, it appears that the team is here to study ground realities about the land to be made available to the steel major for setting up steel, fertilizer and power plants.

The SAIL team headed by Mr Bajaj former executive director along with DGM (corporate planning) Mr Krishna Kumar and DGM (civil) Mr H Toppo as per reports gathered from reliable sources had detailed discussion with the officials of the closed Sindri fertilizer factory.

Board of Industrial and Financial Restructuring has approved the government proposal of reviving the closed Sindri fertilizer factory by handing over the assets of the closed factory to the steel major. But the BIFR bench had expressed its reservation over the valuation of the assets and proposed 11% equity share to be given to the Fertilizer Corporation of India Limited in lieu of nearly 5000 acres of free hold land to be transferred to SAIL and had directed authorities concerned to consider reviewing it.
