The Taiwan Government Is Promoting a Plan to Attract Inbound Investments From Overseas

Taipei, Nov. 2, 2012 (CENS)--The Taiwan government is promoting a plan to attract inbound investments from overseas Taiwanese enterprises, aiming to draw in NT$200 billion (US$6.67 billion) within two years to generate production value of NT$303.7 billion (US$10.12 billion) and export value of NT$227.8 billion (US$7.59 billion).

The plan is highly supported by industry leaders and expected to boost Taiwan's annual GDP growth by an average of 0.31% in the next two years, as well as lower jobless rate by 0.8% to create 82,000 jobs.

C.Y. Koo, vice chairman of the Chinese National Federation of Industries (CNFI) in Taiwan, expressed satisfaction with the government's positive response to solve labor shortage and industrial land acquisition for inbound investors.

F. H. Cheng, vice chairman of the Taiwan Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers' Association, urged financial institutions in Taiwan to simplify and expedite financing applications to encourage overseas Taiwanese enterprises to return home to invest.

S. S. Hung, chairman of Catcher Technology Co. (maker of metal housings for ITC products), says Taiwan faces draining of capital and talent, particularly in high-tech industry, also hoping the government can help high-tech firms acquire financing to build housing plants that cost at least US$200 million.

Kenda Rubber Industrial Co., a Taiwanese tire maker operating in China, the United States, and Vietnam in addition to Taiwan, president H.T. Chang, says the company has invested more than NT$2 billion (US$66.67 million) over the last three years to beef up operations in Taiwan, and may invest more if the government can help manufacturers solve labor and land shortages.
